According to a survey in Tarrant County conducted by the Public Policy Research Institutes, Texas A&M University, 2004(www.tcchallenge.org), Azle is: 1. No 1 in teenage binge drinking with 20% of teenagers having (5 or more drinks of alcohol several times a month. 2. No 2 (37.9%) in using alcohol in the month prior to being surveyed. 3. No 2 in using Marijuana in the last month. 4. No 1 in teenage pregnancies 5. Azle ISD has recognized an overall drop in grades in areas of reading, math, and science. 6. The most alarming figure is that 2,305 (39.7%) of 5,811 students are statistically at risk. In addition, 2,088 students are economically disadvantaged and at risk of dropping out of school to help with the family. Green Light Ministries would like to partner with you as a means to change these statistics. Our staff and volunteers are working to provide the best mentoring program possible to affect the future of our city. |

The M.A.Y. Program will provide one-on-one assistance in math, reading, science and other courses. After all school related activities are completed, the mentor will be coaching he youth in good communication skills, dispute resolution training and character forming relationships.

In the coming months, a youth center will be completed that encourages our youth with homework assistance, mentoring, fun and exciting classes, pool, basketball, bowling, and rock climbing. After recreation our youth may stop by the 50’s style soda fountain! |
